Photoshop Friday

I usually try to keep my Photoshop Friday's writing related, but I figured I'd digress today given the special occasion. And what occasion is that, you might ask? Today, my lovely little daughter started Kindergarten!!! BIG day. That's why I've named this weeks post:

Hallelujah!

Here she is, my creative, clever, sparkling girl. (Yes, I am one of those types of parents. Unabashedly.) You should know that this picture was not posed. She has been doing this for the past week in anticipation of the big day. I honestly can't imagine a child more excited to go school. I know she will thrive. And yes, today as I dropped her off I got all stereotypically choked up.

And this is my son. There he is, getting ready for his mid afternoon nap.

Wait, wait, wait. Mid afternoon nap? As in his daily two hour nap that he takes right during the same time that my daughter is in her afternoon Kindergarten???Then that must mean. . .

HOLY CRAP! I'm going to have two hours completely to myself every day! Two hours of pure, uninterrupted writing time. EVERY DAY!!!

When faced with a gift like this, there's really only one thing to say. (Hit it guys!)

So. Jealous.

Nayna starts in two weeks, but Dojo? Not napping anymore. At all. Ever.

Still--if this means I get to read more of your stuff, I'm definitely more excited than jealous ; )

Awesome! I love your face, coming to that realization. Beautiful. I got a little choked up myself.

Go, go, go!!! Yah for writing time!!! *does a goofy cheer move*

My daughter looked like that when she started school too. The boys both had to be peeled off me screaming and crying. I'll take the first any time!

Finding 2 hours to write is such a blessing. Now be careful. You will be amazed at the number of things you are going to find that need doing in that time. BUT DON'T DO THEM. This is Mommy's special time and there will be no housework done during it. Ever.

YAY!

The word verification is suranap - I guess you could use that time to catch up on your sleep

That is so exciting, and I am green with envy. My writing was going along swimmingly when Benjamin was napping for three hours a day. Then I had the bright idea to take away his binky... He never napped again. I mean NEVER. I would lay down with him and I would fall asleep. He NEVER would. Did I mention the word NEVER enough? Enjoy your time you lucky girl!

P.S. Your kids are adorable!

Um... I think Glovin is an imposter... Spam disguised as a real person. I've never seen that before.

I thought you said this post wasn't about writing. :) Hallelujah is right!!! I love school. My kids start in two days and I'll be singing along with that choir.

Kiersten-I sure hope it means you'll have more of my stuff to read! That's the plan anyway.

Natalie-heh, I should post another pic. A cautious, I really, really hope this works the way I think it will face.

Miriam-I've been doing that cheer move myself the past few days. :)

Janey-AS always, very good advice. I've actually decided that I am going to make the internet off limits to myself during that time. It might be hard, but worth it for sure.

Glovin-Wow. This really is a first. Listen pal, I'm sorry to tell you that you couldn't have picked a more obscure blog for your advertising. Probably not going to make you many sales. But I wish you the best of luck anyway.

Candice-I've heard similar stories to that! And that's why (are you prepared for this horrifying and selfish confession?) I am going to let my son have his binky as long as he wants. :)

Kasie-Yes, I honestly can't believe I'm here. I've dreamed of this time for over a year.

That's definitely a reason to REJOICE! You are so cute. Great post because it's so personal and I love reading about kids growing up. It's exciting and sad at the same time. Good luck to all of you!

Dude, Glovin totally spammed me too. Sneaky.

Your daughter has such long pretty hair! So exciting, the first day of school! Soon it'll be pictures of graduation...*sigh*

I love your son's curls. I cut my son's off and they never came back. But he does still nap. Only...I...nap with him. Awesome pictures.

Tara-Thanks! We definitely will. :)

Becca-We can't wait to see you soon!!!

Michelle-Yes, in some ways it was a little sad to see my baby go off to school and realize that she will be be gone all day from here on out. But, like I said, she is so excited about it, I can't help but be happy.

Sara-Glovin is buggin'.

And, don't make me really cry! I can't think about that kind of stuff yet. :)

Jessie-Yeah, he's actually had several haircuts and I always cry that the curl won't come back, but it stubbornly does. I don't mind, of course. :)

(P.S. Naps rock. Own it!)
