I suppose everyone of us writers will be posting these within the next couple of days, but I officially made my goals last night, so I might as well post them right now.
At any rate, here are my New Year's Resolutions for the year 2009:
1. To send out 2 queries a week for Miss Midas, until one of two things happen:
a. I get an agent
b. I reach 100 queries sent
2. Finish PAMR, and by finish, I mean finish the first draft and then revise/polish until query ready.
2a. Think up a better title to PAMR.
Well, there they are. Lofty perhaps, but not unrealistic. I feel very good about them, and very excited to get started.

Can I read your query letter? Is that rude to ask? I'd like to see if there's something to help you with. 100 agents was my goal. I made it to exactly 50 before i got my agent. I wish you the VERY best of luck! If you need help with anything, please don't hesitate to ask! For some reason I'm weird enough that I'll take it as flattery! LOL! And YAY! Glad to see you're a muscial buff too! Eeeh! There's sooo many of us!
Yay! Excellent goals, all of them. You're so on the ball ; )
Great goals, Ren. Here's to querying! Yay?
And let me solve you PAMR title problem: MERK. For now at least:)
Those are great goals going on here. It seems good, too, to have a limited list as you do, keeping your goals really focused and obtainable! Best wishes, Renee, for a great 2009!
Great goals. Titles are always hard for me too. I think I've finally come up with the title to my series though. It only took me a year. :)
Jenni-Absolutely, you can read my query! Thanks! That's really nice of you. :)
Kiersten-For now . . .
Natalie- Merk. I like it. I think it really works!
Joanne-Yeah, in past years I have set a bunch of goals and I sadly never follow through with them all. I figured that these goals were very manageable.
Kasie-I SO struggle with titles. I love Miss Midas, but that came to me as a fluke. My first novel which nearly reached the querying stage still doesn't have a title.
Those are excellent resolutions - things that you are committed to and obtainable. I should take a leaf out of your book and scrub a few of my loftier ideas off.
World peace - nyerr, maybe for 2010?
You made me start thinking about my goals, writing and non-writing. I think I'm going to give them some serious thought over the next couple of days and post them.
I think you have great goals here. I really struggle with titles as well. "Radiant" was my husbands idea, and I just really liked it. Without him I still wouldn't have a title for my first book.
Good luck on the querying! And getting through that pesky spot on PAMR. Maybe skip ahead to a fun part and go back and fix the problem part later?
Happy New Year! (in case I don't make it back here in the next two days)
Janey-Well, I had world peace on my list, but I figured I should cut down.
Candice-Hey, I'm glad I inspired you. New Years resolutions are fun, aren't they. Why is it that excite us so much more than regular goals? Anyway, do post yours.
Jill-Yeah, I've been pushing through this one tough scene. But, last night I finished it! It was quite a relief.
Some great goals!! 100 agents--whew!! I only did two! I love reading what everyone is writing to do this year! Good motivation for us all!
