Regarding my decision

First off, I want to say thanks to everyone who offered kind words on my last post. You guys are all so nice. You made me smile. Janey, you made me laugh out loud. :) To all of you, I send my appreciation. You guys are the best!

In truth, this is a decision that I have made for many reasons. And I have thought this through a GREAT deal. And I feel good about it. That's why I made the photo essay with the silly/creepy clowns and ship sailing off to the Gray Havens. (Lord of the Rings inside joke. Why yes, I am a nerd. :)

Anyway, I want you all to know these things.

1. No way on earth am I giving up writing. No way. Or my dreams of publication. Absolutely not. I am just turning my focus now to book two.

2. I do not set Miss Midas aside with any feelings of, "This book sucked." On the contrary, I still love it. A lot. I just feel that I need to put it away for a while. And, who knows, I just might come back to it one day.

3. I feel good. Better than I have in a while. :)

Whew--I was afraid when I read this you were giving up! I'm on my 4th book--one is totally done and the other three are here and there. I don't know which one will "make it" but I can't stop!

Onward! May the next book be even grander and more fabulous than Miss Midas :)

Yah for a measure of peace! It is good to set a book aside for a while if you need to. I usually learn more writing another book then I do endlessly revising the ones I have.

Good luck!

The truth is Ren, you have been saying this for a long time. There comes a point when you gotta trust your gut.
While I will still hold out hope that I will walk into Barnes and Noble and see Miss Midas on the shelf, the truth is I also feel good about PAMR and am craving more snippets!

Wow, I feel like such a dork. I read your last post and saw that book on that ship, and was like, huh??? What does that mean. I didn't see the title of the book. I was like, uh, she's taking a cruise? Yeah, a little slow here. LOL Well, I completely understand what you mean. I, too, have stepped away from my series to concentrate on my WIP (fairies, not BFF) and I'm feeling fine with the decision. I think when I come back to it with fresh eyes in a while, I'll make better choices with it. So, I'm glad you're happy.

Thanks everyone. You guys really are great.

Marty-Welcome to the blog. :)And thanks. I think it's a good step for me.

Terri-No, not giving up yet! I still have big dreams. :)

Diana-I can't wait to see what you think of PAMR.

Kasie-LOL. That's okay, I was being intentionally vague. Also, you and I can be second timer buddies. You with Fairies (which i want to read, btw) and me with PAMR!

The best line in this post is "No way on earth am I giving up writing." Now that's what we all like to see, that writerly determination. Glad to read this post, raising my coffee cup to Book Two!

I'm a Lord of the Rings geek too. :) I'm glad you're feeling so good. It sounds like you made a good decision for your overall progress as writer

I think alot of us feel the same way. I definately have to take a step back and remember why I like writing. Then I can go back to my book with renewed excitement.

Like Marty, I'm late to the party, but I'm glad to hear you're setting it aside for good reasons.

I think I might do the same with DTY. Um, and everything for a while, at least until the morning sickness calms down.

That's the right thing to do: write another one!

Plenty of people write a dozen books before they publish one. Then they bring out all those books in a few years, giving the impression they write really fast, when all they're doing is burning through the back catalog.

Somebody said you're not a writer till you've written a million words. So you shouldn't give up until you've written 11 books. :D
