Photoshop Friday

Another post on my personal editing experiences.(Hey, you knew it was coming. Eventually the well was going to run dry.) I've creatively titled this episode:

More on Editing

As some of you may know, I am a big time note taker. (Moleskine! Love it. Swear by it.) I make notes on my books every day, through every step of the process. I'm a huge fan of lists. Maybe because I am a visual person. Maybe because if I don't get my thoughts down on a solid material, they will be consumed in the blinding jumble of my head. Whatever the reason, I don't have my notebook, I literally can't function.

Here's a peek from the pages I've written in the past few days.

Another huge part of my editing process is the stressing. The doubt. What novel would be complete without it right? Last weekend, I spent 24 hours thinking my whole idea for this book was complete garbage. I genuinely thought I was going to have to throw six months of work out the window. Not a pleasant day. Let me assure you. Felt something like this.

Good thing for friends and common sense.

So, yes, there are days when editing/Inner Editor makes me feel like this.

But in the end, I know it will turn out more like this.

DANG, I am one HOT eagle! I'm still laughing. Oh man, you totally made my day.

Hang it there. The editing always gets better once you get half way. It's that "light at the end of the tunnel" thing.

Natalie-he he, I thought you'd enjoy that. :)

Yeah, I'm seeing a light at the end of the editing tunnel, which is nice. Hopefully, I can pass it off the betas in a week. (hopefully)

The best laughs are when we laugh at ourselves ... I think all us writers see ourselves somewhere in your photos at one time or another! Thanks for the laugh.

I SO feel like that ... hanging off the edge. Spot on, Renee!

I'm still giggling over Natalie's head. LOL!

Eek, cliffs. Totally scary picture, hanging so precariously...*shudder*

But yay for happy endings!

Michelle, you only wish you were such a hot eagle;P

Joanne-Yeah, I do love a good laugh at myself. Otherwise, my stress would take over. :)

Michelle-Isn't it perfect? I laughed out loud when I saw it. Too perfect.

Sara-Heh, well I wouldn't call it a happy ending, seeing as how I find myself hanging from that cliff over and over. :P

Thank you so much for your help on my story! I really appreciate it! Sorry if I making a lot of mistakes right now! I am TOTALLY out of it! I am going on 3 hrs of sleep right now!:p Love the pictures! Can't wait until next friday!

If I were dangling from a cliff I would definitely want a Natalie-eagle to come and save me. And I love that you use a notebook to edit. Good old fashioned ink. Sometimes that is just the best way to think.

I really wasn't trying to rhyme.

Oh Ren,

Your picture blog are true brilliance!!! Truly. How's the book coming? And p.s. - whats this "blog contest"???

Renee Collins said...

Courtney-No problem! It was my pleasure. :)

Jessie-Seriously, without my notebook, I would never be able to write a book. I can be so disorganized (much to my personal shame,) so I absolutely have to have one.

Becca-Thanks :) And, the book is coming . . . well, it's just coming. I really, really, really can't wait to get it off my hands and toss it to you guys. :)

I leave the blog-o-sphere for one week and find that you have become quite a prolific blogger! Is it a result of finishing your manuscript? Am I soon going to be on a blogging high when I finish "Jaded?" Just wondering... I agree Natalie is a rocking eagle! Good luck with your edits. I think we all need a giant friendly eagle to whisk us away from our cliffs of literary insanity from time to time.

Ah, the eagle we all know as Natalie. She's saved me from a cliff or two as well. Love your photoshop fridays, they always make me laugh.

Jenni-:D Glad you liked it!

Candice-Yeah, I guess I am on an upswing with my blogging. Mostly because I'd rather do anything else but edit. :)It's all wearing me down a bit. SOOOO glad that I'm almost done with the first round.

Kasie-Eagle Natalie is the bomb! Like, for real. :)
