Photoshop Friday

Getting in touch with your Inner Superhero (and Supervillain!)

We always hear that every writer is different. That every writer has strengths and weaknesses that make their experience different. I pondered on this the other day. I was analyzing my own strengths and weaknesses (well, mostly my weaknesses, but still.) In my mind, I kept seeing them as superpowers, and myself as a Writing Superhero! What kind of superhero? I'll tell you

I am Super Realistic Assessment of My Own Writing Girl! Smashing through the barrier of self doubt and the false precipice of self delusion, SRAMOW has a pretty good understanding of her own writing level. This keeps her strong when things get tough and grounded, even when she's super excited about her WiP.(This is a lame super power, you say? I agree, but it's really hard to do the hero/strengths part without sounding like you're bragging. So, lets move on.)

I am also a writing Supervillain. Yes, here she is. Adjectivica! The ruthless villain who has a burning hatred for English Grammar. Her powers of prose range from a delicate lilac hue to the deadly purple! Adjectivica also loves to slaughter innocent sentences, leaving them in fragments all over the place. Her weapons of choice are adjectives, but she has apenchant for lethal gerunds. Look at all the good, faithful defenders of Grammar that fall dead at her feet! Beware Adjectivica!

And lastly, I have a picture of She-Ra, Princess of Power. Not because I dare to compare myself to her, but, well look at her, she's awesome!

So, what do you think? What is your writing super power? Do you have a fatal flaw? What kind of hero are you? Give yourself a character and introduce yourself in the comment section! Or, better yet, if you want to photoshop a picture of your Superhero, sent it to me and I'll post it here on my blog!

Up, up, and AWAY!!!!!!!

SUPER UPDATES:
Here are a few fearless heroes who have joined my super awesome writing squad!

(In her own words) Candice is: Lady Hindenburg. "Because I think big, make great plans, takeoff really well, cruise along at high altitude, then I get to the end, loose steam and crash and burn in a blaze of glory. In other words, I'm great at beginning, not so much at endings. **Notice the look of fearless determination on my face as I prepare to meet impending doom."

Okay Renee, you've found your calling! You need to be writing graphic novels ... I can see your passion in this post!! So fun ...

LOL! Those are great.

Gotta love She-Ra!

Ren, I love you! That was so, so awesome.

For superhero, I'd definitely be The Brainstormer. I can come up with a thousand ideas a second. More ideas than I could ever write.

As for villain, I'd be Ursula the Unpolished. Transforming perfectly good ideas into a mess of imprecision.

OH. MY. GOSH. BEST photoshop Friday, EVER!!

And I can just envision the scene of you bashing through something with a big "SRAMOW!" instead of "KAPOW!" It's PERFECT.

Notice the FREQUENT use of CAPS. That is how entertaining I found this post.

I wonder what my super power would be...maybe "Bounce Back from Crap" girl. BBC for short.

Wait, is that acronym taken??

Haha, awesome! I have no idea what kind of superhero I am. I'm not a fan of tights. Capes I could do, but tights -- eh. Maybe I'll just be that understatedly attractive journalist who gets swept up into the superhero world anyway. That way, I could wear pencil skirts.

SRAMOW!! Love it!! This whole post made me laugh from the very beginning. I think your photoshop Fridays are destined for blog greatness!! And I just sent you a photoshop of my own. :)

Joanne-You know, you might be onto something. :) Do they make graphic novels of photoshopped images?

Tara-Isn't she awesome?! When I was a little girl, I had all the She-Ra action figures.

Natalie-Thanks :)

Also, I like your superheroes! The Brainstormer. I can see it! You'd have a kind of mystical look, with long silver hair. (Wait . . . maybe I'm just envisioning Storm from X Men)

Kiersten-Yay, glad you liked it!

I see Bounce Back from Crap Girl with a big shield and a steely glare. It suits you!

Sara-Hey, every superhero world needs the cute journalist in a pencil skirt! It's a must.

Candice-Aw, thanks! And I am SO excited to see your superhero pic!!!

Yes--you sure have talent AND a huge imagination!! LOL LOved seeing the pictures and reading the captions. I'm going to have to think awhile on what hero I would be.

LOLOL! I LOVE She-ra! And He-man! This is super, super awesome! I love this post! But I think my author super powers go to Title Mania (I love to name books!) and uh, I love writing kissing scenes! oooh! and can my suit be purple and silver? Jenni

If I were a superhero I'd be Sorry-I-Can't-Talk-To-You-I'm-Somewhere-Else Girl. My brain can take off in a second into whatever world I'm writing in/playing around with. I'm not all here most of the time...

My evil twin would be Procrastinator Girl, since I'm easily discouraged and sometimes inconsistent with my writing.

(Also, I made an awesome pic of SICTTYISE Girl on the HeroMachine, but I couldn't get my screen to save. I'll have to show it to you later...)

Great post!!!!!
I laughed the whole way through. I think as a super villain I would absolutely be "Copy Catwoman" the cruel villain who tends to take a little too much from other books. (If you have any doubt just remember Rosaline who bore a shameful resemblance to Scarlett O’Hara) This is why I have all but given up writing and am sticking to reading and enjoying others work.
P.s. have you been working out? Your thighs are killer!

If I were a superhero I would have the power to duplicate myself so that one of me could write all day and the other of me could do everything else. And my name would be...Ficepird. Actually that's the google word verification underneath this comment box. Not bad. I think I am going to start collecting all of these random google words and make a book out of them.

hahahahahaha! LOVE it!

Terri-Thanks :) And, yes, think of a hero! It's actually quite fun!

Jenni-Title Mania, huh? Wow, that's definitely not my strong suit. Pretty soon here, I might be shining the Title Signal in the sky and get some help. :)

Miriam-I've been visited by Procrastinator Girl! Many times.

And, too bad you couldn't get that picture up! I wish I could see it. I actually went to that hero machine website, and it's AWESOME! :) I spent way too much time there playing around!

Ang-Thanks! :)

Diana-Hey, Rosaline rocked! Okay? And, btw, I think everyone feels like Copy Catwoman sometimes.

P.S. Yeah, I've been cross training at the gym. It shows, right? ;)

Jessie-Oh man, that would be an awesome superpower! And, with a name like Ficepird, you can't go wrong!

And, I think you should write that book. A Dictionary of Word Verification. You can start with mine. Ovenes.

Cindy-Thanks! Glad you liked it!

I am definitely Dialogue Dynamo. Love dialogue. Can write it for days. And my villainess, Description Destroyer. Not only do I skip over description when I read. But when I try to write it I fail in miserable ways. I'm working on it though.

By the way, yes, BEST PHOTOSHOP FRIDAY EVER!!! I was laughing for days.
