For example, how do you write a villain that is not two-dimensional? Do you give you villain a "human side"? Or, harder still, how do you write a hero that has flaws and is likeable?
In my first attempt at writing- the epic Rosaline...*cough cough*- I gave her so many flaws that in the end, when she was shot (yes that's right, I shot her in the end of the book), I was glad to see her go.
Its a careful balance. How do you keep it in check? Who are some of your top villains or heroes?

I like to give my villains flaws. Somewhere, deep down, most villains still have a heart. Or a weakness. I love having my hero find that weakness and make the villain re-think things. Sometimes they redeem themselves, sometimes they don't. It all depends on the villain and his/her motives and backstory. :)
Obviously I love writing villains. :)
Oh man, and I was drooling because of Mr. Darcy.
I like giving heroes flaws and villains MEGA flaws. My villain starts out mostly human and ends up utterly despicable. Granted, she hasn't been shot yet, but she'll get hers. :)

I like villians who have some sort of redeeming quality. The ones you secretly kinda like because of that one thing.
And I'll take any hero that isn't annoyingly good. Who always does the right thing? It's human nature to make mistakes.

Hahaha! I like understated villains with lots of creepiness, or ordinary people who make a series of bad choices and justifications until they become the villain.
