So due to the overwhelming number of entries for our Kissing Contest . . . (*cough*) (Or maybe due to the fact that we feel like the kid who threw the party that no one came to . . . /sad clown)
We're changing the rules to our contest! And making it much easier to enter!!! So . . . enter! Don't you want that YA book you've been dreaming of to show up on your doorstep?! Well it's never been easier!
New Rules:
1. Write a 15 page kissing scene, with at least three metaphors per page, and at least fifty lines of clever, but poignant dialogue
wait a minute . . . Strike that. Reverse it. (*wipes a tear* Gotta love Gene Wilder.)
The *Real* NEW, IMPROVED, EASIER Rules (plus more gratuitous kissing pics!):
You can enter in three ways:
1. Suggest a Literary Love Mashup in the comments section! Who should be together this Valentine's Day, and why?
2. Or you can still write a Literary Love Mashup kissing scene for extra Bonus points. :) (Either post in the comments section or email to Renee: 1wrenbird AT gmail DOT com)
3. Share your favorite KISS from a book or movie in the comments section. Also:
1. You need to be a follower of the blog.
2. Bonus points if you tweet or blog about the contest!
3. Only U.S. residents eligible for book prize, but we're working on an alternate prize to those outside the U.S.
So there it is! Enter! You have until Wednesday, February 16th! And before you go, here's one more kiss picture.

I would be much more inclined to write a kissing scene if I could create fictional characters. Maybe the next contest, girls!
I was going to enter this weekend! (swearsies)
But I'm just going to enter now, and try to send the kissing scene later. That way all my bases are covered.
Literary mashup? Still in love with the Becky Sharp/Rhett Butler combo.
Favorite kiss? Probably the one at the end of You've Got Mail. It's so awkward and raw and special. Plus there's a dog. :)
This is an almost-kiss scene from Pride & Prejudice, but it's my favorite! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqidX_5ZsLg
I'll tweet about the contest too:)
One of my favorite on screen kisses is from Made of Honor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezjbb6bSaTY
*WARNING! It is supa hot!
One of my favorites (and I'm watching it right now) is from Shakespeare in Love. There are a lot of great kisses between Will and Viola in that movie.
I missed your first post about this contest. I had a contest once and two people entered. Because I'm cool.
North and South, train scene kiss.
For a mash-up, how about Bella Swan and Lestat? Give her a real vampire, no sparkles, and a chance of maybe getting eaten.
Miriam-I love that movie! So cute. And yeah, the cute dog makes it even better. :)
Melissa-Eee! I LOVE that almost kiss. Such chemistry!
Jamie-Woo! I haven't seen that movie before! But uh, now I totally want to. :)
Sage-Ohhhh, I love that movie so much. And yes, there are many good kisses. And sad kisses. Gotta love the sad kisses.
Jessie-YES! *squee* I love that scene. It's made oh-so-enjoyable by Richard Armitage's swoonable good looks. :)
Anon-LOL, that's genius! Seriously now. I love that. :)
Also, Jessie, I think we would have gotten about one or two if I hadn't groveled a bit. :)
Ooh, the Pride and Prejudice almost-kiss scene is my favorite too! I just watched it last night! I also love when Katsa and Poe kiss in Graceling.
I love the kiss in the baseball field at the end of Never Been Kissed. SO Romantic. Sigh.
Oh, and that Pride and Prejudice almost kiss is one of my very favorite movie scenes! :)
Ooh the Danielle and Prince Henry kiss at the end of Ever After. Also the boisterous Natalie and David kiss in Love, Actually. Not that i'm a sucker for Hugh Grant or anything.
I missed the first post about this contest, but I will gladly enter now. Best kissing scene ever, Wild Hearts Can't be Broken, lake scene. Oh how I love that scene as a teen. I dreamed of running away with the circus, joining the diving horse show and finding my true love... It all seemed perfect (except the going blind part). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Wp6TapXIK0 (2mins in to the video)
I quite liked the kiss in Penelope. James McAvoy, yum-yum. And I totally thought everyone was talking about this almost kiss in Pride and Prejudice-

I really like that moment:)
Abby-I've heard good things about the romance in Graceling! It's definitely on my TBR.
Chantele-Aw, I remember really liking that movie. It's been forever since I saw it last. Maybe it's a good flick to rent on Valentine's Day! :)
Lora-Aww, I loved loved Ever After. Such a great movie. As common as Cinderella stories are, I really thought that one was really creative!
Candice-Oh man, that movie is a bawl fest! But I loved it! And yes, that lake scene is perfect. Sweet and romantic. :)
R.J.S.-Penelope was such a cute movie! So unexpectedly different. I love that. And yeah, pretty much any kiss scene with James MacAvoy is right by me. :)
I'm a Maria V. Snyder worshipper (Glass series spoiler everyone):
Devlen and Opal in the rocky shelf
I think I cried.
Sophia-Interesting, I've never read those, but I have heard of them. I'm intrigued. :)
Allie and Noah's kiss in the rain in The Notebook is beautiful and memorable.

I've been meaning to enter (really! I have!) but things, ah, got in the way. Plus, I've had terrible luck with contests lately.
Anyhoo: mashup: Gilbert Blythe and, um me? No? Oh. How about Gilbert and...Hermione. Smart. Sweet. She'd add that spunk...except it feels sacrilegious to put him with anyone but Anne.
If i have time later this evening I'll come post a steamy love scene...
Hmmm . . . favorite kiss . . . Some Kind of Wonderful when Eric Stoltz and Mary Stuart Masterson kiss just for "practice." Mmm, I melt just thinking about it. :)
My mashup:
Willy Wonka and Glenda the Good Witch, I just hope the blended family thing works out for them.
Their kissing scene:

Kulsuma-Ooo, that's a good one. So passionate. I've always wanted to have a kiss in the rain. :)
Janine-lol, Gilbert and Hermione could make a great pair. I don't know though . . . you and Gilbert could have something special.
Janet-I've never seen that movie, but thanks to the wonders of YouTube, I just watched the kissing scene. Loved it!! I love how he notices she's blushing. Aww. :)
Red Boot Pearl-LOL, I absolutely loved it. Glinda and Wonka. It's perfect!
